History

Senegal, often dubbed "the land of Teranga," is located in West Africa and is known for its warm hospitality, called “Teranga” in Wolof, the local language. Here are some key aspects of this fascinating country:
- Relief and geology : Senegal is mainly made up of plains and savannahs. There are also areas of moderate height, such as the Massif de l'Ascension in the southeast. The country's geology is dominated by sedimentary formations, with deposits of sand and clay.
- Rivers and lakes : The Senegal River, which forms part of the border with Mauritania, is crucial for agriculture and transport. Lake Guiers, to the north, is an important source of water for the region.
- Languages and Communication: : Wolof, the national language, is widely used in everyday life and business. French, as the official language, is used in administration, education and the media. Other local languages, such as Serer, Pulaar and Jola, add to the country's linguistic diversity.
